Town Crier March 24: Social membership drive and 70th anniversary teaser

Greetings all,

As we kick off week four of our social membership drive, we thought to set a target to encourage momentum in registrations. At the moment, we have 39 social memberships in the books, our target is 75 members by March 31. Membership dues remain at $100.

Social Membership Drive to seventy-five !

70th Anniversary Teaser...

Two points on this front.  We will be tracking those interested in attending the 70th Anniversary events on a regular basis, but we did want to give you a head's up that some of our Kajima and Kurumi rugby brethren are already committed!  They include Horimu Seki, his brother Tatsu and sister-in-law Hiroko Seki who have also purchased tickets to Montreal.  They are added to the first, and most seasoned of Kajima/TMR tourists, Koji Shibata.  More of our Japanese friends are considering the visit, so this important group is likely to grow.

Thursday, Aug. 28 @ 7:00 pm is our Welcome Home Whisky and Wine Tasting.  Scobie Hall will feature a dual-tasting event, animated by some of our very own Townies, with wine tasting upstairs and whisky tasting on the main floor. Ticket purchase and other details to follow.

Frenchie

Town Crier Feb 10: Six Nations brunch news

Greetings!

There was a particularly good turnout to catch Italy sitting down the Welsh Dragon, which is looking more like a gecko, and to see England squeak through against a France side that had forgotten to bring their ball catching skills to the first half of Le Crunch.

From the lower deck of Twickenham during the Eng/Fra tilt, comes this beauty.  TMR alumni, Patrick Moose Jawich and his Brébeuf buddy Sev Arevian enjoyed the action and the England win.  Tickets are hard to come by at Twickers, but Moose's wife, Lauren Costello, worked her magic and secured these seats for the big man's birthday!

I'm heading to Vancouver to catch the Seven's action, so our next Town Crier will be a few weeks down the road!

Take good care of one another!

Player tid-bits...

Greg Anderson from Australia recently sent me this photo wondering about the name of ''fellow in red. Played halfback or flanker''.  Well, I had to reach out to my sources because the only person I recognized was Mike Badke (far left).  Thank you John Dodwell and Ian MacArthur for identifying the whole group (well, almost)...  In the usual order are:

Skinny aka Terry Francis Patrick O’Connell

And far right Greg Anderson

His wife Sheila and their two kids Allie and Paul….Paul is living in Fernie and playing Rugby there

Guy with Bali, shirt no idea.

Greg and Skinny played on the 1976 TMRRFC team I Captained. John Dodwell and Tom Cleary were the linchpins in our success! Plus Rent a crowd!

Let's stay in touch (it's safer there...)
